A few favorites to kick off the week.
First, some news. I didn’t win the Webby. Twice! There was the People’s Choice Vote, which is what I asked you guys to vote for. I didn’t win that, but the guy who did won by a landslide, so no surprise there. I also did not win via the judges, ha. That honor went to Scott Galloway, a worthy competitor. Here’s a cliché “just honored to be nominated,” because really, I cannot remember the last thing I was nominated for on my own. And I have my Webby Honoree distinction, which makes me happy. Thanks to everyone who voted and/or shows me any support on this platform or others. I dig you!
I’m returning from visiting family in Texas and an extended stay in Montana to learn more about neuromodulators… lots of interesting stuff to look into. Here’s something low stakes but fun if you have a shopping addiction.
Despite getting sent an obscene amount of product weekly, I still buy beauty products. I can’t be on every PR list—frankly, I don’t want to be!—and even if I were to be, there are many things I receive that I can’t or don’t use for whatever reason.
It’s the blessing and curse of this job. When I worked in-house at an office, it was easy to give away product. Now, it requires organization, letting people into my home, and hours of decluttering each week. Me thinks I could say I have a part-time job as a home organizer and cleaner, despite being very bad at it.
I preface with this because these are products I actually bought. I know that’s typically what people say to earn trust, but I assure you it doesn’t matter if something was sent to me—I could love it and never talk about it and I could hate it and never talk about it. Or vice versa. There’s simply too much to do at any given point.
So here are some of my recent buys. Get ready to click!
Also, you can take a look at my recent interview with Selleb Sisters, where I share a few more of my recent purchases. (I’m paired with Alexis Page, who is infinitely cooler than me— you can tell simply from our responses.)
Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Serum
This is a unique lip product in that it really is a serum. It’s not meant to sit on top of the lips to add shine, it really is for moisture. I’d use this as a priming step, but make sure you let it really sink into the lips before applying anything over. Was the only thing to cure my chapped lips after a trip to Montana this past week.
Tanielle Jai Staymatte Lip and Eyeliner
I kind of cheated with this one because I bought two pencils and the blending brush but she ended up intercepting my order and sending me all of the shades, plus three of her Bronzours. I love this formula for the lips and eye—- just make sure you follow instructions because it does dry down quickly, which makes it budgeproof.
Pola Linen Dress from Reformation
Wore this to the expo day of Ulta Beauty World and everyone loved it.
Stoney Clover Lane Crossbody Bag
Bought this for Coachella so I could see all my stuff, but am glad I have it mostly for concerts.
Sacheu Lip Stay-N in Cold Call
I’m a Lip Stay-N Stan. Cold Call is one of their cool-toned new releases.
Jimena Garcia used this on my brows back in March and now it’s my favorite brow pencil.
This product is a crucial part of the body glow you’re seeing on Euphoria each week, whether it’s the Silver Slipper dancers or on Cassie.
Mi amor. My #1. Always.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Mini Powder
Have to have one of these in my bag, in my bathroom and in my travel bags.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Slanted Precision Tweezers
My favorite.
Babyliss Pro Mini Prima Styling Iron
Bought this at my Favorite Ulta™ in Texas to help keep my growing-out bangs orderly.
My favorite shampoo. Bought the pump size.
Imaginary Authors In Love With Everything
I bought a sample of this from The Scent Room on Larchmont; I now cannot find said sample which I’m very annoyed about, but I bought it because the description is essentially: teenage girls in the ‘80s run amuck through discos and the beach, encountering dangerous situations all in the name of a good time. Notes include raspberry, coconut palm sugar, tropical punch and stardust. It imagine The Breakfast Club after hours; it’s slightly juvenile smelling but perfect for getting noticed.
Another lost sample from The Scent Room, it’s self-described as “the result of a quest for the overwhelming addictive intensity of female sexual power.” (Every fragrance I sampled that day had strong feminist language around it.) It’s a white floral that’s strongly jasmine, lily and tuberose. I thought I hated white florals, turns out I just hate gardenia. (I think?)
simplehuman mini countertop trash can
I got a small trash can for my desk to put all my product wrappings in. Please clap.
I decided one simply cannot own enough pillows. So I replaced two of the eight on my bed (yes, I need help) with the Coop pillow in a crescent shape to allocate room for my neck. It’s cooling so I sleep extremely well.
